Adventures in the Gulf - Swiss Everyday Life in Qatar and the Emirates
W"Adventures in the Gulf" shows the everyday life of Swiss people who have moved their center of life to Doha or Dubai. The French Swiss Coralie Durussel, the hotelier Chris Franzen, the entrepreneur Matteo Botta and the hairdresser Andrea Hirschi live in the Persian Gulf for different reasons.
Chris Franzen has ordered a Rolls Royce for his luxury hotel. After all, only the best is good enough for his VIP guests. At home, his wife Rachel is packing her bags; her father in Australia is seriously ill, and she wants to get there as soon as possible. Chris is very busy. In the restaurant, the kitchen team has to be trained and the service staff has to be trained, in the rooms the new staff is being trained, while outside the construction work is still not finished. Because of delivery problems, everything is getting very tight.
Coralie and her family spend most of their time indoors during the summer. There are many offers: from the mall, to the trampoline, to the indoor chilbi. In addition, Coralie and Saeed are planning their new house, because the Qatari government provides land for some ancestral families for their sons. So Saeed and his brothers want a plot of land where they will all live next to each other in the future. In Arab countries, each house has a special area where only the men meet, but Coralie wants to have a say in the planning.
In Dubai, Matteo and Megan are on a house tour. They would like to have more space and room for one or two children. Their apartment is definitely too small for that. Matteo can well imagine doing without a nanny and would like to take care of the children himself. As an entrepreneur, he can manage his time well himself. His latest professional baby is a laundromat, which he would like to trim to sustainability.
Andrea Hirschi's father is visiting. It's an opportunity to take daughter Sophie to the zoo again. At 40 degrees in the shade, that's really only possible if there are ways to cool off. Here, too, they are inventive. Andrea also receives her first client at home. Her hairdressing salon is quite improvised, actually she would rather offer her hairdressing services at people's homes. And then Andrea has big news that will upset all her plans anyway.
