The history of their creation is often linked to legends and customs: Viewers find out what Chinese dumplings have to do with frozen ears, how Ukrainian vareniki were used as a love oracle and why tinned ravioli promoted the emancipation of women. In Bologna, friends Danila and Luisa prepare traditional tortellini and argue about the true birthplace of Italian dumplings. Chef Lucie shows practical tricks for shaping dumplings to perfection and colours them with turmeric, beetroot and spirulina.
