A life of the century - love of the century - holding each other's hand - THAT is love!
In the NDR series “A Life of the Century”, people who are around 100 years old have reported on their lives. Now a century of life special: the most beautiful love stories from a very long life. In two episodes of “Jahrhundertliebe”, three protagonists tell their very personal love and life stories. These are interwoven with historical milestones that played a decisive role in their lives.
Touching love stories from a long life: Old people tell their love and life stories. Egon Ullrich, 102 years old, and his wife Hildegard, 98, have been married for 75 years. A true love of a century! They had a difficult start: Egon had to drop out of school because of the war and Hildegard had to leave Hamburg. But when they met, life began. Together they ran a delicatessen in Hamburg-Blankenese for decades, where Hamburg's celebrities shopped: from Otto Waalkes to Countess Dönhoff.
Marly (88) was born and grew up in Berlin, Hans (93) in Hamburg. The two met on a canoeing trip. Marly had moved from Berlin to Hamburg after the war and took a canoeing course here. Hans Brende was the canoeing instructor. But Marly was only 14 years old at the time and Hans was already 19, so the two were just friends for the first few years. But friendship eventually turned into love. They got married and had three daughters.
What always remained was their shared passion for sport. Willa and Otto Ringel from Hagenow have been married for 61 years. They met while working for the GDR trade organization, HO for short. Her beautiful blue eyes fascinated Otto, who was seven years older. But Willa was actually already engaged to someone else. They got married on February 14th. But not because it was Valentine's Day, they had managed to get a vacation spot together at the time.
