Hanseblick - Wind escapes and witches' beeches - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's special trees
Mighty ancient oaks, rustic windbreaks, bizarre witches' beeches and beech forests on the Jasmund, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: there are tree personalities everywhere in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, whether on the coast or inland. They have many fans and helpers.
The tree whisperer who has been looking after the veterans all her life, a young tree nursery operator who grows climate trees for the future, or a park owner who has been creating a green refuge with rare tree species for decades.
On the island of Rügen, the coastal forest grows on chalk and holds the cliff together. It is also the start of the German Avenue Route, which stretches like a green ribbon through Germany to Lake Constance. The ‘Hanseblick’ travels to the most beautiful and interesting trees from the coast to the inland.
