Tough dogs - Ralf Seeger intervenes - special mission for sick dogs

Anka Purwin has a huge heart for disadvantaged dogs and therefore founded a sanctuary that offers a home to dogs with disabilities, old and chronically ill dogs and dogs with behavioural problems. In Möckern near Magdeburg, she lives together with her almost 40 dogs on 7,000 square metres. A lot of space, a lot of dogs, a lot of work - there is hardly any time for renovations. And yet they are urgently needed: the central courtyard area - actually the place where the many dogs in wheelchairs and the paralysed dogs are kept - is flooded every time it rains heavily.

The flooding means that no dogs can walk here for days on end. An alternative would be the large dog meadow - but it is boring: there is a complete lack of agility equipment, toys or areas for dogs with disabilities to lie down. Ralf Seeger and his boys, the ‘tough dogs’, intervene. They want to help Anka so that she can continue to help the disadvantaged dogs on this earth. They arrive with three diggers to transform the yard into a feel-good oasis and turn the boring meadow into a real adventure playground for the dogs.

During the construction work, they meet Leo, a paralysed man from Macedonia, who nobody knows why he is paraplegic. A visit to the vet reveals something terrible: a bullet from a firearm is lodged in Leo's back. Great Dane Camillo is also causing a lot of concern: the dog was sexually abused by his owner and eventually bit him. Now he needs very slow rehabilitation. He has to find his way back to himself and learn to trust people again - even though Anka hardly dares to approach the 70-kilo dog herself.
