Beautiful! - Crete: Zeus, Raki and Sirtaki
Caribbean blue sea, inviting beaches, wild nature and unusual hospitality - that is Crete. The largest Greek island lies in the eastern Mediterranean, 100 kilometres from the Greek mainland. The sun shines here 300 days a year. And there are huge mountains - the highest is 2,450 metres high - and numerous gorges to hike through.
Andrea Grießmann experiences on the Greek island what "philoxenia" means, the tradition of welcoming strangers: Cretans invite her to family celebrations, accompany her to the island's sights and reveal their insider tips. In the caves of Zoniana, the palace of Zeus awaits Andrea Grießmann. She hikes through the spectacular Aradena Gorge, introduces the Arkadi Monastery + strolls through the small streets of Rethymnon, Chania + Knossos.
