Beautiful! - In love with southern Tuscany

Hot springs, rolling hills with olive groves, avenues of cypresses and small villages made of yellow tufa stone characterise southern Tuscany. Tamina Kallert travels through this dreamlike cultural landscape between Siena and Grosseto. She immerses herself in the mysterious world of the Etruscans, the "Tusci", who settled here 3,500 years ago and who gave Tuscany its name. She explores the "Serengeti of Tuscany", introduces the most beautiful spas, strolls through the Renaissance town of Pienza and enjoys music and wine in Montepulciano. And she meets people with exciting stories: the "Butteri", the guardians of the long-horned Maremma cattle, the "eco-fisherman" Paolo Fanciulli and the Wuppertal art historian Hella Nussbaum, who fulfilled her dream of a "house in Tuscany".

A touch of sulphur - bathing in the hot springs of Saturnia Under Tuscany it is bubbling: Hot springs bubble up in many places. Tamina Kallert enjoys the free bathing fun in the turquoise-blue thermal waters of Saturnia. At the Cascate del Muliono, sulphur water at almost 40 degrees shoots out of the rock and flows into natural pools connected by small waterfalls. Pitigliano - a giant sandcastle Pitigliano looks like a giant sandcastle: the old town centre is enthroned on a 300-metre-high base of yellow tuff. Tamina Kallert strolls through one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany, where history from the Etruscans to the Medici is brought to life. She experiences pure Italian lifestyle and enjoys the breathtaking view.

A day at sea with Paolo Fanciulli Paolo Fanciulli is a fisherman - and campaigns for ecologically correct fishing. Tamina Kallert goes out to sea with the inventor of "fishing tourism", learns a lot about the diverse sea creatures and tries "Italian sushi". Music and wine in Montepulciano Montepulciano is situated on a hill surrounded by vineyards. One of the most magnificent of the many Renaissance buildings is the Palazzo Ricci. This is where the Cologne Academy of Music runs the European Academy for Music and the Performing Arts. Tamina Kallert gets a guided tour with music and visits the historic wine cellar.
