Goodbye Germany! - Love and suffering - between looking for a father and heartache
Levke has had bad luck with men all her life. Then, four years ago, on holiday in Zanzibar, Mr Right appeared before her for the first time in the form of a Masai warrior. For two and a half years - with interruptions - Levke lived with him in the Tanzanian savannah. But then he turned out to be a fake lover who only wanted her money. At least Levke gained something good from this bad experience: the realisation that she wanted to live on Zanzibar, with or without a man. Now she is emigrating, alone, with just her dog Emma. She wants to open a bar right by the sea. But just three months before her emigration, Levke has lost her heart to Marcel, a charming heating engineer from Hamburg.
The Hanoverian is torn for a long time. She leaves anyway, despite this new love, simply wanting to suppress her feelings for him. But can she be happy on the dream island of Zanzibar? Jessica Wessendorf (38) and her husband Mike Doyle (34) emigrate to America with their two children Phoenix (3) and Aurelius (1) - because they have to. Mike is in the Air Force and is transferred to Seattle. Jessica is particularly affected by having to leave her home town of Herschberg in Rhineland-Palatinate.
But she can't imagine life without her husband Mike either. The four of them will live with Mike's parents for the time being - Jessica has grown very fond of her father-in-law, who is like the father she never had. However, a completely different challenge awaits Jessica in the USA: she wants to finally meet her biological father, with whom she has had no contact for 35 years. Will it be possible to persuade her father to meet her? And will the family manage to settle down and find happiness in the USA despite all the difficulties?
