Heimatküche - Culinary Treasures from Westphalia - The Famous Plums from Stromberg
Four countrywomen embark on a culinary journey through Germany, from the Baltic Sea to the foothills of the Alps. They visit each other's farms and offer their fellow countrywomen a menu typical of the country, with their culinary treasure at the center. And in the end, they choose a winner. Who cooks the most delicious country menu?
On their travels, the women gain insights into the farms and everyday family life, and they spend a unique day at places worth seeing in the regions. These are dedicated women who are breaking bold new ground with their farms and family businesses. All of them produce regional specialties. For example, classic craftsmanship such as cheese-making in Bavaria meets visionary ideas from the world of herbs and vegetables in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The host in this episode is Marion Stemich. In Oelde-Stromberg in the Münsterland region, she runs a plum farm with her family. Four generations live under one roof and look after 3,000 trees of ten different plum varieties. The Stromberg plum has a long tradition in the area. Due to its more than 200-year history and unique taste, it is even under EU protection. The hostess invites you to a carriage ride along the plum hiking trail in Stromberg and, of course, uses the treasure of the region in her country menu: There is Stromberger Brotzeit with plum chutney, game goulash with plums and oven vegetables, and a dessert classic: plum pancakes.
