Hotel stories - luxury, sweat and extra wishes

Hotels are places that transport people into a dream world + enchant them with sumptuous interiors, culinary delights, wellness temples or pure friendliness. Some, the guests, spend their vacations here or meet business partners, escape from the daily grind or enjoy pure luxury.

The others, the hotel makers, do their utmost to satisfy the visitors and fulfill their wishes. Presenter Annette Krause goes in search of hotel stories. She talks to hotel directors + hotel owners about their extraordinary concepts. She talks to the staff about the special challenges, slips into the most diverse roles + lends a hand herself. In Offenburg, the Hotel Liberty has been created from a former prison. Where once the tough guys were incarcerated, guests now stay in cozy rooms with every comfort. The former prison yard has become an impressive glass tube. Annette supports the receptionist, accompanies the guests to their rooms and makes sure that nothing is missing. In Heidelberg, Claudia Klischka has fulfilled a dream with the Hip Hotel. In her hotel, you can literally travel around the world. The rooms are named after cities, each with its own flair, authentic furnishings + lots of atmosphere. In the "down-under room" everything is literally upside down + you wonder if you still have solid ground under your feet yourself. Annette makes herself useful in the early morning and helps with breakfast preparation. In Baden-Baden, hotel director Rademacher is responsible for two extraordinary hotels at once. In the "Belle Epoque," the Art Nouveau style runs through the entire building. The furnishings consist of antiques. Cocktail receptions are held in the spacious garden. Of course, Annette has to serve here. The "Little Prince" features quotes from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's famous book on the house wall + throughout the house. During a game of billiards in the fireplace room, Annette learns a few things about the hotel world. The Hotel Erbprinz in Karlsruhe has more than 200 years of tradition and is one of the top addresses in the hotel industry. Here, Annette cleans the wellness area early in the morning before the guests are pampered. She is also instructed in the correct folding of towels. She has to show a lot of flair in the patisserie. Here it is a matter of bringing the finest tartlets + coffee to the tables without any accidents. In Kressbronn on Lake Constance, the Marschall couple opened a teddy bear hotel years ago. In all rooms, in every room + even on the toilets you can find bear motives and different stuffed bears. Interested guests can have their own bear repaired by the teddy doctor. In Hotel Arthus, one of the oldest buildings in Aulendorf, Annette dives into the world of the Middle Ages. At the knight's banquet, a cupbearer checks food + drinks. Annette assists him as a maid. The hotel rooms have names like "Ambrosius", "Barbarossa" or "Schwarze Vehre". Despite the ancient concept, the staff has modern training. Annette takes part in a course on complaint management.
