Land und lecker - Ham King Henner - The first landman takes to the starting line
It's off to the ham country of Westphalia: Gut Erpenbeck is a listed farm and has been in the family since 1260. The farm is one of only 14 businesses allowed to produce the protected “Westphalian ham on the bone”. The ham is seasoned and smoked in the old ham smokehouse according to a secret recipe from Grandma Maria. The Erpenbecks also grow strawberries and asparagus. Son Henner loves his job as a farmer and is passionate about country life. The junior boss has many ideas on how to set up the farm for the coming years and works hand in hand with his father. Mother Freya was a contestant on Land und lecker in 2015 and showed back then just how delicious Westphalian ham is.
This time, mother and son are in the kitchen and will be competing with their asparagus and ham. A Westphalian ice cream cake with ice cream and strawberries will be served as a home-style appetizer. Just in time for the anniversary season, WDR's range of regional cuisine from NRW will also be relaunched online: The WDR “Heimathäppchen”, which reinterprets traditional recipes from NRW, and the countrywomen's dishes from “Land und lecker” will then be bundled on a Facebook page for all lovers of exceptional cuisine with a home factor. “Land und lecker” - family stories, country life and delicious country cooking!
