What traces do old houses leave behind of their inhabitants? Cellist Friederike Fechner from Stralsund wanted to find out. She and her husband renovated an old gabled house in Stralsund's old town and came across the darkest chapter of German history, the Holocaust. The story of a Jewish family. A meticulous search for clues with touching results begins, taking the audience on a journey into a painful past that opens up connections to the present and the future. A family reunion of people who, without Friederike Fechner's research, would not have known that there are still relatives worldwide because their ancestors survived the Holocaust by fleeing. At the end there is a family reunion in Stralsund.
