The North Story - Big pots on the quay - Bremerhaven

In Bremerhaven, the quay in the port is called the quay. From there, 5.5 million containers are handled annually. The terminal operators are always busy with expansion in order to remain competitive. The port basin has been specially extended so that even the modern container giants of up to 400 metres can turn and dock here.

When the mega-ship "Mærsk Mc Kinney Møller" wants to unload several thousand containers, the port procedures are meticulously planned. Because berthing time is expensive. Kiara James notices that too. She is completing a voluntary social year in the Seamen's Mission. During this time she makes visits on board and works in the Welcome Seamen's Club. In her experience, the seamen are often happy to just have a little snack and to see a different face.
