Crazy for the sea - Discover the world from the water - Half Moon Island: The island of penguins
The small cruise ship has arrived off Half Moon Island. Before the passengers go ashore in the Zodiacs, the scout boat with the lecturers pulls up. The scientists determine the ‘route’ and ensure that the guests always keep at least five metres away from the penguins. Hundreds of animals live in the colony and they should not be disturbed by human visitors. For Ralph Morgenstern and his daughter Jadwiga in particular, the little creatures are the highlight of the tour. That's why they have their guide Manfred explain the different breeds of penguin to them. Meanwhile, Dirk and Andrea witness the calving of an iceberg and are fascinated by the beauty of the raw nature.
Meanwhile, the kitchen on board is hard at work. 30 themed cakes are baked for the ‘special teatime’ so that the guests can enjoy the delicacies not only visually. Ralph Morgenstern is particularly fond of the penguin cake. The former café owner is blown away by the large, colourful buffet prepared by chef George Podder and his team. On the way to the next destination, lecturer Ludger announces another attraction within sight - the crater crossing of ‘Neptune's Bellow’ in the fog. Not a safe route, as you drive over a gas bubble and there were frequent earthquakes there in the 1990s.
