In his study, product developer Sebastian Lege uncovers the tricks of the food industry: Over-easy eggs lure children with sugar and cheap plastic toys, discounters offer cheap poultry rolls thanks to mechanically separated meat, and frozen cakes such as Black Forest gateau are freeze-stable thanks to extra ingredients. Ready-made meatballs are cheaper than home-made minced meat thanks to cheap ingredients and special production processes.
